The History

Islandia BBC Micro cover
This is another BBC Micro B game again from Red Shift and was the last one Julian Gollop did for this british microcomputer before moving to famous Spectrum range of computers. Again he only designed the game itself and Andy Greene programmed the game.

Concept & Game Mechanics

This is a very simple two to four player conquest game of a randomly generated map of islands. The players started from a central island and must expand his empire by reaching virgin islands with the help of boats. When a player arrives to an island for the first time the resources of the island (wood, iron and food) are revealed. These resources are then used for building various types of ships like steamboats, battleships and armies to help mantain or conquest other islands. Units have a range in miles for turn, feature replicated in almost every Gollop game as Action Points.
